Every year during the week of the November full moon, an oasis in the middle of the Rajasthan desert, Pushkar, comes alive with a camel fair.
Traders bring in their wears, families arrange for marriages with other tribes, camel races and gypsy music create a highly charged atmosphere. Centuries ago, the small lake of Pushkar was the home of holiday palaces built by various maharajas.
